Abir dreamed of stars not spells.

When an unexpected portal appears during the pioneering human time-travel experiment, sixteen-year-old Abir and four other teenagers are ripped from the 22nd century. Thrust into an unforgiving world where corrupted magic turns rivers and lakes toxic at night, their survival depends on dormant powers, unknown to them.

A local mage guides them to the hidden village of mages. But they discover its brutal rule: prove you have magic before the council specified deadline, or face banishment into the wilderness with your memories wiped clean. While his companions unlock elemental magic, Abir remains powerless with time running out.

His only hope lies with the imprisoned Whisperer, a cryptic mage. But the prison is hidden, guarded by a legendary monster, and Abir has no magic to face either challenge.

He must find the Whisperer and awaken his magic before his past and future are erased.
